Isaiah 7-8

Isaiah went to Judah's ruler, named Ahaz, and told him that in time his enemies will be defeated.  Isaiah asked Ahaz to ask God for a sign.  Ahaz refused to ask for a sign.  From what I can tell by further reading, Ahaz did not want to HAVE to believe in the Lord....that is why he did not want to be presented with a sign.  Isaiah was not pleased with Ahaz but he still presented him and the house of David with this:

(7:14)  The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel.  

WOOOHOOO!!

This is the first time in our reading that the Messiah has been clearly introduced.

Isaiah continued to tell Ahaz what was ahead (good and bad) in his future.  

In Ch 8 the prophecy continues from Ch. 7  In 8:13-14 Isaiah states that Assyria is not who Judah should be fearing.  It is God.  

The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy,

he is the one you are to fear,

he is the one you are to dread,

and he will be a sanctuary.
