Mar. 26 -1 Samuel 17-18

Oooo...the David and Goliath story.  What a good one.  We've most likely heard of the large, intimidating man named Goliath.  He was basically a big bully who everyone was scared of.  Jesse had told his son, David, to take some snacks to his brothers who were out fighting the Philistines.  When everyone explained their fear against Goliath, David went to Saul and said he would kill Goliath.  No one could believe this and they all assumed David would be killed.  Especially when he didn't take a sword to fight with.  He took his trusty slingshot and a few rocks.  Goliath started to come toward him.  David took one shot with his slingshot, hit Goliath right in the forehead, and cut his head off.  Saul immediately recruited David to be one of his own.  This went well until all of the people began praising David for killing Goliath.  Now, Saul was a little jealous.  Saul planned to keep him around until just the right time to get rid of him, so Saul gave David one of his daughters.  David continued to fight and win battles for the Israelites and Saul's anger continued to grow.
