Mar. 27 - 1 Samuel 19-21

Saul is out to get David.  He does not like that David is doing God's work.  Satin has been allowed to enter Saul's heart and it is leading him to kill David.  Saul tells his son, Jonathan, that he plans to kill David.  Jonathan is very fond of David and talks his Dad out of it.  Saul makes an oath to Jonathan that David will be safe.

It was not long after that Saul was out to kill David again.  David went to seek Samuel's advice.  Saul sent many men to go get David, but each time as the men came near David and Samuel they began speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  Saul kept sending more men.  He was determined to get a hold of David and kill him. Each time Saul's men approached Samuel and David they would (like the others) begin to speak God inspired words.  Finally, Saul decided to go get David himself.  And like the others, when he approached Samuel and David he stripped off his robe and prophesied.

David went to talk to Jonathan he informed him of what Saul was doing.  David did not believe that his father was A) wanting to kill David again and B) would do something like that without confiding in him.  Together they worked a plan or a test to see what Saul was up to.

The test worked, Saul became angry and told Jonathan his intentions to kill David.  Jonathan was so sad.  He went to David and told him to flee.  He knew that his father would find some way to kill David if David stayed near.  David left.

David went to Nob and talked to a priest.  This priest gave David what he needed to continue to flee.  He gave him bread and a sword.  The only sword that the priest had in his possession was the sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom David killed.  David took that sword.
