Deuteronomy 9-11

Moses' words have been so powerful lately.  I can actually picture myself there among the Israelites listening to his words.  The Israelites are so close to crossing over in to the promised land.  Moses warns them of the Anakites and their strength and power, but assures them that God will go in before them and destroy them. They will then be blessed with the land that God had promised their ancestors.  Moses continues to plead with the Israelites to follow all of God's commandments.  He reminds them of the times they did not believe, and the sacrifices that were made by Moses, Aaron, and others to save the Israelites.  Moses tells the people that all God really wants is for them to fear Him, walk in His ways, to love Him, to serve Him with all their heart and all their soul, and to observe the Lord's commands and decrees.   Moses does admit that this is both a blessing and a curse; a blessing if they obey the commands they are given, and a curse if they disobey.
It sounds so simple, yet we are so easily seduced by Satan to sin against the Lord.  Lucky for us and for the Israelites, God is "the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.  He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.  And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt." (verse 17-19)
Moses commanded it upon the Israelites to share all of God's greatness with their children and grandchildren, so that everyone may know Him.   I love how it states to teach these decrees to your children, "talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."  This makes it so easy for us to relate to, because it's something we can obviously do in our daily lives.
