Exodus 21-23

Can you imagine?  All those laws and the consequences we should face.  It sure makes me think that if these laws were really enforced, there would be a whole lot of punishments being dealt out.  God tells Moses all of the rules, both political and judicial, that he is to convey to the Israelites.  God is making Himself known to the Israelites and making His expectations known, as well.  I'm not going to reproduce all of the laws on the blog, since there were so many, but it's definitely worth looking at these chapters.  This is also the first mention of the "eye for an eye" concept.  After sharing all of the laws, God tells the people to celebrate three times a year by celebrating the Feast of Unleavened Bread, The Feast of Harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering.  He then tells them that He is sending an angel ahead of them to lead them on their journey.  They are to follow the angel and listen to him.  The angel will not lead them astray.  Some researchers believe that this is Jesus, others believe it is God in the form of man.  Hopefully, we'll get some more insight on this as we read on.  In the midst of all of this, the Israelites say that they are going to do exactly what God commands and will obey His laws.
