Proverbs 23-31

Proverbs 23:31-32
Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup,
when it goes down smoothly!
In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.

Proverbs 25:14
Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not give.

Proverbs 25:20
Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day,
or like vinegar poured on soda,
is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.

Proverbs 25:21
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
if he is thirsty, give him water to drink

Proverbs 26:4
Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you will be like him yourself.

Proverbs 26:22 *this is one for my bathroom mirror!
The words of gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to a man's inmost parts.

Proverbs 27:2
Let another praise you, and not your own mouth;
someone else, and not your own lips.

Proverbs 29:11
A fool gives full vent to his anger,
but a wise man keeps himself under control.

Proverbs 29:17
Discipline your son,and he will give you peace;
he will bring delight to your soul.

Proverbs 30:8
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Proverbs ends with the Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character.  Dorothy Patterson explains her as a diligent homemaker, valuable helper, nurturing mother, upright and a God-fearing woman.  I can't say I fit into that mold.  Something to think about.......Proverbs 31:10-31  -nic
