April 23 - 2 Kings 17-18

The Israelites...they just can't seem to get it together.  The Lord continually warned them and told them to follow his laws, yet they continued to worship other gods.  The Lord finally removed Israel from His presence and put them into exile in Assyria.  They continued to ignore the decrees of the Lord and followed the sinful ways of their fathers.
In Judah, we meet king Hezekiah.  So far, I like him.  He was a true follower of the Lord and stood strong in His ways.  The king of Assyria tried so hard to get the people of Judah to follow him, to no avail.  He mocked Hezekiah, saying it was absurd to follow the Lord.  Hezekiah told his people not to respond to the king of Assyria and they listened to him.  Hezekiah prayed to the Lord about this and his people were saved.
