Esther now took the opportunity to ask the King to take back the command to destroy the Jews. The King was unable to take back the decree that had been issued. But the King immediately made sure a new decree was issued to allow the Jews to have all the means needed to defend themselves. It was also proclaimed that the King and Queen were in support of the Jews. Because of this, the Jews were victorious.
Queen Ester then asked that all enemies of the Jews be destroyed. This included Haman's sons.
Mordecai sent letters to all Jews calling them to celebrate God's faithfulness. This celebration was called Purim and is still celebrated by Jews today.
Chapter 10 talks about Mordecai's leadership.
10:3 Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.
