Job 8-13

In Ch. 8 Bildad approaches Job and tells him what he thinks about his current state of suffering.  He immediately starts laying in on Job telling him that he is complaining too much.  (2)  Your words are blustering wind.  He then tells him that he has earned his pain.  He says his children earned their death and currently he is paying for his own sin.  On vs. 11-18 He was giving cause and effect examples.  He was saying that the cause of Job's suffering is the effect of his sin.  In the end of Ch. 8 Bildad says that Job can be happy again if he just turns to God.

Ch. 9 is Job's response to Bildad.  Job tells him that he knows that God punishes the sinners, but he also knows that God's ways are beyond our understanding.  He is feeling like there is not any way that he can get "in" any better with God.  He wishes there was a man that he could talk to that would help him communicate about God's ways.  He pleads for a person to take away his pain and fear.  But he knows there is not man who can help him.

Job continues in Ch. 10 to plead to God.  He asks God WHY this is happening to him.  He want to know why he would be created just to be torn down.

He asks God to turn away from him so that he can feel a moment of Joy before he dies.  Little did he know that the only thing keeping him from death is God.

In Ch. 11 another man by the name of Zophar tries to talk to Job.  Zophar was not nice to him.  Maybe he was sick of hearing Job complain....but I don't see how you can be so harsh to such an ill man.  Anyway, he basically tells him that he deserves worse than this.  He says that he wishes he could hear God speak about Job's situation b/c he feels God would be angry with him.  If he knew God he would follow in his ways.

In vs. 13-20 he tells Job to devote his heart to God.  If he does this he will forget his troubles and life will be brighter.

Ch. 12 Job responds to Zophar and I think he is getting pretty annoyed by his friends.  Basically I think he says.....

SERIOUSLY!  You guys think you have all the answers.  Do you think I am stupid?  I know what is expected of my by God.  You are all mocking me!

In vs. 13-25 he demonstrates his knowledge of God.

He continues in Ch. 13 to tell his "friends" that he knows the Almighty and he is not someone inferior to them.  I liked in vs. 9 where he said, "Would it turn out well if he examined you?"

At the end of Ch. 13 he is begging to be called on and released from his pain.
